How to slaughter animals in an ihsan way? (Bag. 2)

Maintaining animals with ihsan is something that needs to be done by a Muslim. This is because the Prophet ordered us to do Ihsan on everything, especially in slaughtering. This time we will continue, how to slaughter animals in an ihsan way.

In the previous article, we have discussed four conditions for slaughtering animals. This time we will discuss how to treat animals with Ihsan. Among the efforts to do ihsan in slaughter animals are:

Sharp a massacre

Among the things that need to be considered before slaughtering animals is the sharpness of a knife. The sharpness of this knife is a form of ihsan when slaughtering animals. This is as the hadith narrated by Muslims, the Messenger of Allah Shoverlahu ‘alayhi wa sallam say,

And if you are slaughtered, do it well, and one of you will be found.

“If you slaughter it, then you will be compassionate; (Muslim hours)

Why is the sharp knife a form of ihsan in slaughtering? Because this makes it easier for the slaughtering process so that it can be completed quickly. Sheikh Ibnu Utsaimin explained the hadith,

And need to limit the trip, because it is easier to sacrifice

“And it is obligatory to sharpen a knife, because it will be easier to slaughter.”

With a sharp knife, it will certainly facilitate slaughtering. If slaughtered with a blunt knife, it will be difficult and last long. This will surely torture the massacre.

However, when sharpening a knife, not to be done in front of animals to be slaughtered. This is as in a hadith, the Prophet Shoverlahu ‘alayhi wa sallam Talk to someone who sharpens the knife in front of the slaughtered animal,

Do you not want to die

“This is not accepted, do you want to kill him many times?” (HR. Baihaqi)

After knowing the importance of a sharp tool, then how can we find out whether our knife or machete is sharp enough for the slaughtering process? There is a way that can be used, namely by testing a piece of HVS paper. The sign of a knife or a bar is sharp enough so it is easy to use to slaughter is that the bar can cut a piece of HVS paper perfectly.

Cut exactly

One of the conditions for slaughtering is to drain blood by cutting four channels found in the neck, namely the airway, the dining channel, and two blood vessels. If the four channels are cut perfectly, the slaughtering process will take place faster.

Among the efforts so that slaughtering can cut all the channels perfectly is to cut in the right part. The four channels in animals are located close together, usually in the area around the subordinates of the animal. Not near the head or closer to the body, where usually the four channels begin to separate except for certain animals.

Besides needing to cut perfectly, the thing that also needs to be considered is not to excessively cut. Among the non -ihsan behavior in animals is excessive cutting, especially until the animal’s head is cut off. Slaughtering should be sufficient when the four channels that have been mentioned are cut.

Separate the slaughtered animals

Among the forms of ihsan in the slaughtering of animals is to separate animals that are slaughtered with other animals (which have not or will be slaughtered). It is clearly a cruelty to animals when they have to watch other animals slaughtered. When sharpening a knife in front of animals that will be slaughtered is not good, especially by slaughtering animals in front of animals to be slaughtered?

Lay animals well

Is a form of ihsan when slaughtering is not excessive when laying animals to be slaughtered or binding excessive animals when they want to slaughter. Binding is enough to be done to taste, by positioning animals so that the slaughter can be slaughtered safely and comfortably. Binding and laying animals that will be slaughtered excessively will certainly hurt animals and are a form of torture to animals. Sheikh Ibnu Utsaimin said,

What some people do now from existence if they are bound by sheep and want to slaughter, they bless and hold their hands and feet. This is his torture

“What is done by some of the people now, namely by laying goats and wanting to slaughter it, they sit on it and bind both feet and hands (front foot) of the animal. This is a form of torture of animals.”

Another thing that needs to be concerned when laying animals to be slaughtered is immediately to be slaughtered. Do not let animals that have been laid evenly silenced for a long time for one reason or another. Preferably, after the animal is laid, the process of slaughtering is carried out because it will be more comfortable for slaughter animals. Sheikh Ibnu Utsaimin said,

Mandatory to rest, and that is quickly slaughtered because it is comfortable for it

“Must provide comfort to animals, namely by slaughtering it quickly, because it makes it more comfortable.”

Not cutting the slaughtering animals before the animal died

Another thing that needs to be considered when slaughtering is not in a hurry to process animals. We should not start skinning and cutting animals before the animal really dies. This is a form of torture of animals. In addition to torturing animals, these animal pieces could have entered the hadith narrated by Ibn Umar,

What is cut from wild animals in life, is dead

“Everything that is interrupted from animals in a state of alive, then that is a corpse (carcass).” (HR. Ibnu Majah)

Therefore, we should, we should not be in a hurry to process the animals before being sure of the death of the animal. Then how can we find out whether the animal is dead or not? There are several things that can be done to check the status of animal deaths.

The first thing to check is whether blood still flows in the veins that have been cut? If it still flows, then the animal is still alive because the heart still pumps blood. Then you can also see the stomach of the animal, whether there is still breathing movements in the animal’s stomach.

If the blood does not flow and the breathing movements are gone, to ensure the status of the death of animals can also be in other ways. Can by stimulating the animal’s to touch nails. If the feet move, the possibility of animals is still alive. Then it can also stimulate the eye of the animal’s eyes touched by his eyelashes, whether the animal’s eyes are still responding or not. If there is no response, then the possibility of animals is dead.
