QUESTION:
Peace be upon you, and Allah mercy and blessings? Permission to ask ustadz? In the final QS Al Baqarah it is stated that Allah does not differentiate between messengers, but in the Koran itself there is Rasul Ulul Azmi and even Sayyidil Mursalin. How’s the explanation? Syukron. Afwan (+62 821-1209-xxxx)
ANSWER
Wa’alaikumussalam wa Rahmatullah wa Barakatuh
Allah Ta’ala does not differentiate between them, they are all His servants and Messengers. The same thing.
There is also a mention of Ulul Azmi for Prophets Nuh, Ibrahim, Musa, Isa, and Muhammad ‘Alaihim shalatu wasalam not in the context of prophetic and apostolic status, but in relation to their steadfastness in the struggle for the propagation of monotheism as mentioned above.
There is also the Prophet ﷺ who is called Sayyidul Anbiya wal Mursalin, because the Prophet ﷺ became the prayer leader for the prophets during the Isra’ Mi’raj event, and all the Prophets handed over the right of human intercession to the Prophet ﷺ.
