Question:

What is the law of reading the gospel and the Torah? And what answers to Syubhat (doubt) which states that Sheikhul Islam (Ibnu Taimiyah) ever read it?

Answer:

All praise to God, God the universe. Greetings and greetings can be poured out to envoys sent as blessings to the whole world, to their family, friends, and followers until the day of judgment. But not.

Not allowed to read the books that are mixed (in it pent.) Between truth and faintness, to avoid damage that may arise due to reading it to the religion of the Muslims. And anyone who is looking for the truth, he will find it in two reliable and reliable sources, namely al-Kitab (Al-Qur’an) and As-Sunnah. Because, the truth will not conflict with both.

Therefore, the Prophet warned his people from books (Jews and Christians), as in the story of Umar bin Khattab Radhiyallahu ‘anhuwho brought books from several Bible members to the Prophet. So the Prophet was angry and said,

I have been in it, O ibn al -Khattab, and who my soul is in his hand, I have come to you with a light of purity, and you will not ask them for something. So they lied to him, or with falsehood, and they would charity with it, and that my soul was in his hand, even if Moses was still alive, and he could only follow me

“Are you doubtful, o ibn khattab? For the sake of my soul in his hand, I have brought clean white teaching. Don’t ask them (books) about something, because they might tell the truth, then you reject it; for him except to follow me.” [1]

As for those who already have a strong understanding of the al-Kitab (al-Qur’an) and as-Sunnah, and need (reading the Book of the Gospels and the Torah) to defend religion and raise the sentence of truth by studying the books Ahlul EveBid’ah experts, and philosophers critically and in depth to reveal their weaknesses, and show contradictions in it, then it is allowed for him and for qualified scholars. As done by Sheikhul Islam Ibnu Taimiyah Rahimahullah To their logic books and objections to the philosophers. He also studied Rafidhah’s books from Shia and objected to them in the book “Minhaj As-Sunnah An-Nabiyyah Fi Naqd Kalam Asy-Syi’ah Al-Qadaiyah ». In addition, he also explained the contradictions that occurred between various gospels and Christianity of Christians in their beliefs in the book “Al-Shahih by Manasseh ‘Brandel Samsilulation “Time”.

And knowledge (true) only exists before Allah Ta’ala. The closing of our prayers is praise to God, the Lord of the universe. May Allah bestow our Prophet Muhammad, his family, his friends, and his followers until the day of judgment.
