ANSWER

Wa’alaikumussalam warahmatullah wabarakatuh

Hajj Akbar has many definitions put forward by the scholars. Including:

1. DAY 10 ZULHIJJAH

So, the activity of the pilgrimage network in 10 Zulhijjah is a grand hajj. This is the opinion of Sya’bi, a nakha’i, said bin jubeir, and one of the history of Ali radhiallahu ‘anhu.

Argument:

For the authority of Ibn Omar, may God be happy with them, that God’s messenger, may God give him up and give him peace, stand on the day of the massacre in the argument he did, and he said: (Namely, today?

From Ibn Umar Radhiyallahu ‘Anhuma, that the messenger of God (may be peaceful with him) stands on Nahr (10 Dzulhijjah) in the pilgrimage he did, and he said: “What day is this?”
They answered: “Day Nahr (Sacrifice).”
Then he said: “This is a grand hajj day.”

Shaykh Muhammad Shalih Al Munajjid said:

The day of the massacre is called a large hajj day; Because the night stood in Arafat, last night with forbidden hair, throwing on the day, massacre, throat, around, and chasing the pilgrimage, and the hajj day is time, and the biggest pilgrimage is working in it, and the biggest pilgrimage day is mentioned in the Qur’an.

Day Nahr (Eid al-Fitr) is called Yaum Al-Hajj Al-Akbar (Hajj Akbar Day); Because at night there is a wukuf at Arafat, spending the night at Muzdalifah (al-Masy’ar al-Haram), and during the day he was carried out by Jumrah, Sacrifice Massacre, Shaving Hair, Tawaf, and Sa’i-all who were a series of pilgrimage practices. Hajj Day is the implementation time, while Hajj Akbar is a practice carried out in it. It has been mentioned about Yaum al-Hajj al-Akbar in the Qur’an, as Allah Ta’ala said:

2. Hajj Akbar is Wuquf’s Day at Arafat

This is the opinion of Umar, Ibn Abbas, said bin Al Musayyab, Ibnuz Zubeir, Thawus, Mujahid, and one of the history of Ali Radhiallahu ‘anhu.

God’s messenger (may peace on it) say during the Arafat sermon:

However, this is the biggest pilgrimage day

Amma Ba’du, indeed today is Hajj Akbar.

3. Hajj Akbar is Hajj itself, Hajj Ashghar is Umrah

This is the opinion of the majority of scholars.

And the choice is what the majority of scholars go to what is meant by “the biggest pilgrimage”: Hajj, and the youngest means Umrah

Opinions selected and adhered to the majority of scholars; Hajj Akbar is Hajj, and Little Hajj is Umrah. (Darul Ifta Al Mishriyah no. 7827)

4. Hajj Akbar is the rest of the day in Mina. This is the opinion of Sufyan Ats Tsauri.

5. Hajj Akbar is the first pilgrimage by the messenger of God. This was said by Harits bin Naufal and Muhammad bin Sirin.

6. Hajj Akbar is Hajj Qiran, Hajj Ashghar is Hajj Ifrad. This is Mujahid’s opinion.
