Being oppressed, are the Palestinians forbidden qurban?

QUESTION:

Assalamu’alaikum, Ustadz Farid Nu’man. Is the people of Palestinians forbidden to be qurban with the current conditions?

Both the Palestinian people who are at home and abroad.

If there are still rich people in Palestine. Both at home or foreign Palestinians. And, financially able. Is it still haram sacrifice?

ANSWER

Wa’alaikumussalam warahmatullah wabarakatuh

For those who are in the field, the law of sacrifice is the sunnah miractive according to the scholars of the scholars, except the Hanafi sect which reads mandatory. This is good in peace and war like Palestine. Previously the Prophet ﷺ was still qurban even in a difficult situation in Hudaibiyah.

The above law returns to: ability and security for shahibul qurban. If it cannot and is not safe, then the sacrifice is not recommended and innocent leaving it. “Not recommended” does not mean haram.

Until now, I have never heard that there are scholars who say Palestinians are haram sacrifice, both Palestinians who are in Palestine or outside.
