Imam Ibn Taimiyah in Minhajus Sunnah (vol. 6, p. 375):

“Ahlussunnah will never support a party that is clearly an infidel.”

Full sentence:

If it is assumed that Muslims are oppressive, immoral, and support types of heresy that are greater than cursing Ali and Uthman, then a reasonable person would consider the best of two good things and the worst of two bad things. Don’t you see that the Sunnis, even though they say what they say about the Khawarij, Shiites and other heresies, they do not help the disbelievers in their religion, and they do not choose the emergence of disbelief and their followers over the emergence of other innovations.

If it were destined for the Muslim Ummah to become an unjust and unjust people, and display various kinds of heresy that are greater than the heresy of denouncing ‘Ali and ‘Uthman, surely an intelligent person would see which of the two virtues is better and which of the two vices is the lesser.

Don’t you see that the Ahlus Sunnah, even though they say about the Khawarij, the Rafidhah, and apart from both of them are experts in heresy as they say, they do not help those who disbelieve in their religion, and do not choose parties who are clearly infidels and their supporters over those who appear to be heretics who are still below it.

Meanwhile in Fatawa Al Kubra, vol. 3, p. 516, Imam Ibn Taymiyah:

He was asked – may God Almighty have mercy on him:
About a man who prefers Jews and Christians to Shiites?

He answered:

Alhamdulillah, everyone who believes in what Muhammad SAW brought, may God bless him and give him peace, is better than everyone who disbelieves. Even if there is error among the believers, whether it is the error of the Khawarij, Shi’ah, Murji’ah, Qadariyyah, or others; Jews and Christians are infidels, an infidelity that is known for certain from the religion of Islam. If the person who innovates considers himself to agree with Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam and does not differ with him, then he does not disbelieve in him. And if he is confirmed to be a disbeliever, then his disbelief is not like the disbelief of those who denied the Messenger, may God bless him and grant him peace.

Imam Ibn Taimiyah was asked about people who prioritized Jews and Christians over Rafidhah.

He answered:

Thank God. Everyone who believes in what Muhammad ﷺ brought is better than someone who disbelieves; even though within believers there is a form of heresy, be it Khawarij, Shia, Murji’ah, Qadariyah, or other than them.

Because Jews and Christians are unbelievers whose disbelief is known for certain in the Islamic religion.

As for a person who goes astray, if he believes that he is following the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and does not disagree with him, then he is not condemned as an infidel because of it. And even if he is destined to become a disbeliever, then his disbelief is not like the disbelief of those who openly lied to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.

The law of bringing infidel troops into Muslim countries to fight against Muslims

Imam Ibn Taimiyah said (Majmu’ Al Fatawa, vol. 13, p. 219):

Because it was not Allah’s command to His Messenger to bring idolaters and People of the Book to kill the Muslims and take them captive, and take their money for the sins they committed, make houses to worship idols, ring bells in them, kill the readers of the Koran and experts in the Shari’a, and glorify the uncleanness of the polytheist scholars, Christian priests and the like; These people were Muhammad’s greatest enemies, may God bless him and give him peace, and they were the same as the Arab polytheists who fought him on the day of Uhud, and they were disobedient among the disobedient people of their nation, and if among them there were many hypocrites, then those hypocrites hid their hypocrisy.

In fact, it is not included in what Allah commanded His Messenger * to bring in polytheistic infidels and People of the Book to kill the Muslims, arrest them, and confiscate their property because of the sins they committed;

Because they were the toughest enemies of Muhammad ﷺ, and they belonged to the group of Arab polytheists who usually fought against him in the Battle of Uhud. Meanwhile, those who (commit sins) are only those from among their people who commit sins, even though many of them are hypocrites. As for hypocrites, they hide their hypocrisy.
